Phoenix Instruments Inc. is a leader in the field of advanced technology opacity monitoring systems (COMS). Phoenix EPA compliance opacity monitors use a high intensity green LED light source, and no mechanical components in the transceivers. Non-compliant LED light source opacity monitors are also available. All opacity systems are guaranteed to exceed all EPA opacity certification requirements.
Phoenix Instruments, Inc. opacity monitors help industrial facilities monitor the amount of visible emissions, smoke or opacity created during their combustion or industrial processes. Opacity monitors, or continuous opacity monitoring systems (COMS ) are used most often to comply with EPA requirements. Opacity monitors used for compliance opacity monitoring must meet CFR 40, Part 60 Performance Specification 1 for opacity monitors. Compliance opacity systems are designed to match the photopic response of the human eye; and the opacity monitor readings are corrected for stack exit opacity, so the opacity that the instrument measures, will match the opacity reading of the visual observer.
Opacity monitors are manufactured by Phoenix Instruments for non-compliance opacity monitoring too. Opacity monitors that are for non-compliant opacity measurements, such as small package boilers are not required to meet the EPA design criteria for continuous opacity monitors. Phoenix Instruments, Inc. non-compliance opacity monitors use LED technology for the light source, eliminating problems found in older technology incandescent light source opacity monitors. |
